Position Overview 

The Accounting Assistant (Accounts Receivable) plays a vital role in supporting ICR’s mission by ensuring the accurate processing of donor and customer receivables. This position is responsible for managing incoming payments, maintaining detailed donor and program revenue records, handling cash with integrity, and contributing to the overall financial health of the ministry. Success in this role requires a high level of accuracy, timeliness, organization, attention to detail, and a commitment to serving within a Christ‑centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable & Revenue Processing

  • Process and record all incoming payments, including donations, ticket and merchandise sales, event registrations, and other receivables.
  • Review daily settlement reports, verifying transaction accuracy across multiple platforms, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and ensuring proper posting to revenue accounts.
  • Prepare and distribute daily revenue reports.
  • Receive and process phone donations as needed.

Financial Support & Compliance

  • Maintain organized physical and digital filing systems in accordance with records retention and audit requirements.
  • Assist with annual audit procedures and internal reviews by preparing documentation and responding to information requests.
  • Support continuous improvement of financial processes, internal controls, and stewardship practices.
  • Collaborate with the development/fundraising team to ensure accurate donor designations, gift coding, and reporting integrity.

Administrative & Ministry Support

  • Provide general administrative support to the finance department.
  • Serve as backup receptionist, offering warm and professional interactions with guests and callers.
  • Ensure the office environment remains clean, orderly, well‑maintained, and secure.
  • Foster positive working relationships and proactively seek solutions to challenges.
  • Uphold and reflect ICR’s Christian mission, values, and commitment to servant‑hearted ministry in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirement

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s Bachelor’s or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of accounts receivable or general accounting experience (nonprofit experience a plus).
  • Experience with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Blackbaud) and online giving platforms preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrated understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard office software.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity with sensitive financial information.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a growing ministry environment.

Job Requirements

  • Agreement with ICR’s core principles and mission. 
  • A written testimony of salvation and faith in Jesus Christ. 
  • Adherence to a modest dress code
  • Physically capable of safely lifting up to 25 pounds.
