Youth Equipped to Succeed (YES) is seeking a strategic, mission-minded Director of Communications with a strong passion for storytelling, messaging, and brand stewardship to help strengthen organizational awareness and deepen engagement with donors, educators, parents, and community partners. This role will steward and amplify the voice of YES through compelling communications, impactful storytelling, and consistent brand messaging that advances the organization’s mission, visibility, and future growth initiatives.

Requirement

Brand Leadership & Strategic Communications

  • Serve as the keeper of the organization’s brand, messaging, voice, and communication standards. 
  • Oversee and approve external communications and marketing materials across departments.
  •  Ensure consistency in messaging, brand integrity, and audience experience across all platforms. 
  • Lead cross-department collaboration to ensure aligned messaging and communication efforts. 
  • Proactively identify and develop stories that communicate mission impact and organizational growth.

Events & Fundraising Communications

  • Lead messaging and communications strategy for major events and fundraising campaigns. 
  • Develop speeches, scripts, run-of-show documents, and audience-facing messaging. 
  • Manage creative vendors and oversee production timelines for print, digital, video, and event materials.
  •  Ensure projects move efficiently from concept to completion with strong attention to detail and deadlines.

Digital Communications & Marketing

  • Develop and execute email marketing campaigns through MailChimp, including audience engagement, list management, segmentation, and campaign strategy. 
  • Manage and maintain website content and updates while coordinating with external digital vendors on larger initiatives and improvements. 
  • Create, oversee, and maintain social media messaging, content calendars, audience engagement, and brand consistency across platforms.
  •  Collaborate with sales and marketing efforts related to digital outreach and audience growth strategies.

Media Relations

  • Support media requests, interview preparation, and organizational messaging. 
  • Write press releases and proactively pitch media opportunities related to organizational initiatives and announcements.

Other General Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or related work. 
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and project management skills. 
  • Experience managing multiple projects, timelines, vendors, and creative deliverables simultaneously. 
  • Familiarity with MailChimp, WordPress, social media management, and digital communications tools preferred. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency and messaging excellence. 
  • Highly collaborative, proactive, and organized with the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
