Experience: 1–3 years of human resources experience preferred; equivalent combination of education, internships, or related experience considered.

 

Position Overview

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level while developing knowledge and skills in key HR functions. This position assists with responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, and employment law compliance.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Coordinates job board and social media postings and represents the company at job fairs and with external recruiters.
  • Conducts background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Performs new employee orientations and onboarding activities.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution and communicating benefit information to employees.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations concerning employment.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Receives training and guidance to develop proficiency in core HR processes and compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems a plus but not required.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) or willingness to pursue is a plus.
